The June 4, 2003,
Board Meeting was held at Roy Getzoff’s office.
-
Those present were Roy Getzoff, Bruce Walker,
Dennis Plaska, Guy Taglienti, Larry Simpson, Vince Mundo, John
Craven, Tom Winston, Steve Epstein, and Tommy James.
-
Secretary James read the previous minutes of the
May 14 meeting.
-
Treasurer Taglienti reported that as of May 30 we
had $2,292.66. Checks for $16.00 were written for each local
clinician who participated in the State Field Clinic.
-
Vice-President Craven reported that we can
register on-line with the state. Each official will receive
two newly designed patches for each sport he or she
registers in. President Getzoff suggested that veteran officials
give up their old jerseys so new officials won’t have to buy new
jerseys. The state promotional scale has been increased by ten
points for training.
-
Rules Interpreter Winston said there will be
eight training sessions, beginning on July 29th
. Roy said the reason the state is requiring more training
sessions is that some associations meet only four or five meetings
for the entire season.
-
Vince sent out surveys (on-line) to eighty-four
officials, asking them to select three to five of the white-hat
wannabes. Polls will close on Saturday June 7.
-
The following officials will be placed on the 2003
Varsity list of officials who may be picked on a Varsity crew:
Bryan Baker, Quinton Davis, Jimmy Long, John Gazzano, Jeremy
Shamash, and Roosevelt Young.
-
Officials who have not given Vince a copy of their
Social Security number must bring it when they register on June
16. Also, no cash will be acceptable as payment, only check or
money order.
-
The tenth required state training session will be
held on August 11th.
-
White-hats Jim Mulchay and Joe Foley will be
placed on the Varsity Alternate list.
-
Board members made comments about each of the
wannabee white hats. They were evaluated during the Spring
Jamborees.
-
The Frank Forte football TV special will be
televised on Sports Jam, Sunday, June 8, at 11:30 P.M. on Channel
10.
-
Rick Collura will be asked to come before the
Board after the regular meeting on June 16.
Very truly yours,
Tommy James, Secretary |
