Board Meeting Minutes

  1. The June 4, 2003, Board Meeting was held at Roy Getzoff’s office.
     

  2. Those present were Roy Getzoff, Bruce Walker, Dennis Plaska, Guy Taglienti, Larry Simpson, Vince Mundo, John Craven, Tom Winston, Steve Epstein, and Tommy James.
     

  3. Secretary James read the previous minutes of the May 14 meeting.
     

  4. Treasurer Taglienti reported that as of May 30 we had $2,292.66. Checks for $16.00 were written for each local clinician who participated in the State Field Clinic.
     

  5. Vice-President Craven reported that we can register on-line with the state. Each official will receive two newly designed patches for each sport he or she registers in. President Getzoff suggested that veteran officials give up their old jerseys so new officials won’t have to buy new jerseys. The state promotional scale has been increased by ten points for training.
     

  6. Rules Interpreter Winston said there will be eight training sessions, beginning on July 29th . Roy said the reason the state is requiring more training sessions is that some associations meet only four or five meetings for the entire season.
     

  7. Vince sent out surveys (on-line) to eighty-four officials, asking them to select three to five of the white-hat wannabes. Polls will close on Saturday June 7.
     

  8. The following officials will be placed on the 2003 Varsity list of officials who may be picked on a Varsity crew: Bryan Baker, Quinton Davis, Jimmy Long, John Gazzano, Jeremy Shamash, and Roosevelt Young.
     

  9. Officials who have not given Vince a copy of their Social Security number must bring it when they register on June 16. Also, no cash will be acceptable as payment, only check or money order.
     

  10. The tenth required state training session will be held on August 11th.
     

  11. White-hats Jim Mulchay and Joe Foley will be placed on the Varsity Alternate list.
     

  12. Board members made comments about each of the wannabee white hats. They were evaluated during the Spring Jamborees.
     

  13. The Frank Forte football TV special will be televised on Sports Jam, Sunday, June 8, at 11:30 P.M. on Channel 10.
     

  14. Rick Collura will be asked to come before the Board after the regular meeting on June 16.
